Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
