Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
